TAKES PLACE DURING TERM 2 & 3
At Vredenburg Primary School, we offer a variety of winter sports where learners can develop their talents, build teamwork skills, and grow in confidence. We create opportunities for every learner to participate with pride, give their best and represent our school with passion.
Rugby is a proud tradition at Vredenburg Primary School, where our players compete at various levels and are encouraged to reach their full potential. We participate in the West Coast League, sports days in the Platteland and Swartland regions, as well as fixtures against schools in Cape Town.
Our rugby teams regularly have the opportunity to participate in tournaments, including the annual sports tournaments hosted by Augsburg Gymnasium and Riebeek-Kasteel. Some of our most memorable tours have even taken us to Namibia. Over the years, Vredenburg Primary School has produced several provincial players, including former learners such as Stedman Gans, a Blitzbok, and Ruan Kitshoff, former captain of the Namibian national rugby team.

Netball forms an important part of our winter sports programme and is coached with dedication from U/7 to U/13 level. Our teams participate in the West Coast League, fixtures in the Platteland and Swartland regions, as well as matches against schools in Cape Town. Each year, we also travel to the Augsburg Gymnasium Sports Tournament, where our players gain valuable match experience.
Our netball players have the opportunity to participate in West Coast and Western Cape trials, and Vredenburg Primary School produces outstanding players each year who go on to compete at higher levels.

Vredenburg Primary School has four hockey fields, allowing different age groups to train and play matches simultaneously. Hockey is offered to both boys and girls from U/8 to U/13, with dedicated coaching and excellent opportunities for player development.
Our teams play an average of ten matches per term and also participate in popular tournaments such as the Gericke, Worcester Primary, and Mikro Hockey Day. Each year, learners have the opportunity to participate in West Boland and Boland trials and showcase their talent at a higher level.

Cross Country at Vredenburg Primary School gives learners the opportunity to develop their endurance, perseverance, and love for running. We participate in both the West Coast and Boland Leagues, where our athletes achieve excellent results each year.
Our cross-country runners represent the West Coast region at the Boland Championships, giving them the opportunity to compete at a high level. Participation in the Boland League also provides learners with the opportunity to qualify for provincial colours and further develop their talent.
